    1. A Call to pray. Pray that our faith will help us overcome fear. Please join us for Noonday Prayer on Wednesday, September 23. Our Journey in Prayer continues. As you continue to pray read in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 26:36-46. Keep in mind that our Savior, High Priest and Redeemer is aware of all that we are dealing with. There is no pain or disappointment that we cannot talk to Him about. He is our Abba. The one who parent us through our greatest fear. Our Faith in Jesus cannot be side lined in the context of this present Pandemic, Social, Racial, or political unrest. In fact, our faith in Jesus should be even more embolden. Let us not forget Jesus’ invitation to pray “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:14) Please join us in an act of obedience by praying at noon. Can’t wait to pray together.
Always keep in mind that godly wisdom is not separate from faith, because faith produces wisdom and spiritual courage. Additionally, the coronavirus is still raising havoc in our communities. Especially, in the African American Community. With faith we are winning the war against Evil.

    2. Covid19 Testing and Tracing: Tracing is particularly important to understand when keeping safe from the Coronavirus. In other words, be aware of people you are in contact with. Places where you socialize must be carefully considered? Be wise. Have you been tested? Have people in your family been tested? Keep in mind that a person who have no symptoms might be infected. A test could save someone’s life. So, throw someone a life preserver by getting them to get tested. Red Cross is also a good place to get tested. Phone #800-733-2767.

    3. Voter Registration and Census: I would like to encourage each of us to Vote in the general election on November 3rd. Absentee voting and mail in voting are also a good way to go. If you were not able or ineligible to vote in the primary elections, it does not mean you cannot vote in the general election. For additional information call Sister Shirley Lawrence. Additionally, taking the census will qualify our community to receive more economic resources to help improve our community.

The upcoming election is one of the most important elections of our lifetime. Before the next election make sure you know where you will be voting. Check with the Voter Registration office to make sure. Keep in mind that elections have consequences. Our Postal Service is under attack. Mail in voting could determine the outcome of the Presidential election and down ballet voting. Here are some things you can do immediately: (1) Call or write your Senator or Congressman. (2) Circulate or sign a petition to voice your concern about the abrupt changes to the Postal System. (3) Contact your local officials (Councilman, Mayor, State officials and the Governor). THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS: JESUS IS LORD OVER ALL
INTRODUCTION: Jesus came down from His heavenly home to save us. He laid aside the cloak of royalty and entered the world as a human, subject to sin and shame. Though He was rich, for our sakes, He became poor. He lived a sinless life but died on a shameful cross. Then God exalted Him. He came as a babe in a cradle, but no He wears a crown. The cross was once an object of same, but to all who love and believe in Jesus, it is a symbol of His Glory.
When Jesus died and when He rose from the dead, so did our sin; so did our hope. No other religious leader or person in the history of the world can make that claim.
Because Jesus’ crucifixion and Resurrection those who believe in Him and live according to His example will also rise. Christians don’t stay in their tombs when they die. Tombs are for the dead, but all those who are in Christ rise to eternal life. This means that, though our bodies will remain in the grave until Jesus’ second coming, our spirits go immediately to heaven to be with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8).
However, at times, it may seem as though we are entombed and that the pressures and stress of living in an ungodly world are getting the best of us. We should be encouraged because God is faithful. He can break the ties to oppress us or hold us in bondage. The Holy Spirit is the one who sets us free from our tombs.

Our lesson tonight challenges us to reexamine the value of Jesus’ sacrificial Death on the Cross. When Paul wrote to the Philippians, he was encouraging them to embraced the solid foundation of their faith. The value of Jesus’ Death is our escort to eternal life. Let us worship Him for his Gift of grace.

THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST: Jesus is Lord Over Water
INTRODUCTION: Jesus performed miracles for various reasons: to demonstrate His compassion (Matthew 14:14), to demonstrate His deity (John 14:13), to fulfill prophecy (John 6:14), and to alleviate suffering and pain (Mark 5:34). John’s Gospel records eight miracles that Jesus performed. Jesus turns water to wine (John 2), signifying Jesus as Creator. He heals the government official’s son (John 4), symbolizing Jesus as healer. He then heals the lame man at Bethesda (John 5), which portrayed Jesus as God.
In Chapter 6 Jesus feeds 5,000 men, which signified Jesus is the Bread of life. In the same chapter, Jesus walked on water because He is the Lord over nature, In chapter 9, he heals the man born blind because He is the Light of the World. In Chapter 11, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, signifying that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. In the last chapter, John records the miraculous catch of 153 large fish to show that Jesus is humanity’s provider.
The bible records 37 miracles that Jesus performed, but the bible days, “There are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose the world itself could not contain the books that would be written” (John 21:25).
In our lesson this evening John retells the story of the wedding at Cana where Jesus turned water into wine. Here John wants us to look beyond the miracle itself and begin to believe in Jesus and the Father who sent Him.
    EPOSITION: John 2:1-11
    I. The Setting of the Miracle (John 2:1-2)
    A. Cana of Galilee (John 2:1a)
    B. A Key Member at the Wedding (John 2:1b
    C. Other Invited Guests at the wedding (John 2:2)
II. The Challenge at the Wedding (John 2:3-4)

    A. They Ran Out of Wine (John 2:3a)
    B. Jesus’ Mother Intervene (John 2:3b)
    C. Jesus Give a Strange Response (John 2:4)

III. The Focus of the Miracle (John 2:5-11)
    A. Mary Demonstrated Faith In Jesus (John 2:5)
    B. The Resources for the Miracle (John 2:6)
    C. Jesus Commanded the Miracle (John 2:7)
    D. The Fruits of the Miracle (John 2:8-11)
    Points to Ponder:
    1. Jesus attending the wedding in Cana of Galilee as a demonstration to illustrate His respect for the institution of marriage (John 2:1-2; Genesis 2:21-25; Ephesians 5:21-25)
    2. Human efforts can never anticipate short coming of our plans. In other words, God is never limited by our plans’ failures (John 2:3-4; Genesis 16; 17)
    3. Faith in Jesus always proceeds a Miracle (John 2:5; Hebrews 11)
    4. Jesus’ miracle at Cana represents His capacity to exceed humanity’s limitations (John 2:6-9; Judges 7)
    5. The focus of miracles is to display God’s Glory and sovereignty over nature (John 2:10; Exodus 14).
    6. Miracles and signs are performed to convince and convict Jesus’ disciples to believe in Him (John 2:11; Matthew 17).
    7. Miracles and signs were performed to convince and convict sinners of God’s Glory and sovereignty (Daniel 3:21-29)

Sacrificial, Joyful Giving: II Corinthians 8:1-14
Introduction: Most of the times we take up love offerings when guest musicians or speakers come to our church. Occasionally, we will try to meet special needs without having a representative there, and our missionary giving is almost in a budget format.
In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul gave instructions about collecting a gift for the poor believers in Jerusalem. They were to set aside certain amounts weekly and let the total accumulate until he came and pick it up. It was to be completed before he arrived. He would take or send it in whatever way made them comfortable. He wanted no question to arise over the integrity of its handling.
The most detailed passage on giving in the New Testament is found in Second Corinthians chapters 8 and 9. The primary reason that Paul addressed this topic here was that false teachers in Corinth were questioning his motives for ministry. Evidently they were suggesting that Paul was pocketing contributions earmarked for the poor believers in Jerusalem. Consequently the Corinthians had not donated.
Our lesson this evening is and has been one of the most controversy problems in the church. Hopefully, we can examine the scriptures and gleam from it the intent and purpose for giving.
    DEPOSITION: 2 Corinthians 8:1-14
    I. Believers Must Give Freely (2 Corinthians 8:1-2)
    A. A Good Example (2 Corinthians 8:1-2)
    B. A Desire to Fulfill the Obligation of Fellowship (2 Corinthians 8:3-4)
    C. A Personal Commitment (2 Corinthians 8:5-6)
    D. A Reasonable Challenge (2 Corinthians 8:7)

II. Believers Giving Willingly (2 Corinthians 8:8-)

    A. Follow the Example of Jesus (2 Corinthians 8:8-10)
    B. Perform by Doing (2 Corinthians 8:11
    C. Exercise a Willing Mind (2 Corinthians 8:12)

III. Find a Balance Christian Life Through Giving
    (2 Corinthians 8:13-14)
    A. Be Make Sure Everyone is Accountable (2 Corinthians 8:13-14)
    B. The Goal of Equality (2 Corinthians 8:14)
    C. Share Your Blessings of Over Flow (2 Corinthians 8:14)
    Points to Ponder:
    1. Grace Giving is Sacrificial giving (2 Corinthians 8:1-2).
    2. Grateful Christians joyfully seek opportunities to give (2 Corinthians 3-4)
    3. Biblical Giving begins by giving ourselves to God and others as Jesus did (2 Corinthians 8:5-6; Galatians 1:4; 2:20).
    4. The foundation motive for our giving should always be love (2 Corinthians 8:8:7-9).
    5. If you promise to give, fulfill your promise (2 Corinthians 8:10-12).
    6. Biblical giving seeks to meet the needs, not just the wants, of others (2 Corinthians 8:13-14)
